Valeria Bello is Senior Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute on Globalisation, Culture and Mobility (UNU-GCM; and one of the two “featured expert” \u00a0of the United Nations University for the Sustainable Development Goal number 10: \u201cReduced Inequalities\u201d.<\/p>\n

She is author of the book \u201cInternational Migration and International Security. Why Prejudice is a Global Security Threat\u201d (Routledge 2017), in which she analyses the root causes of different forms of forced migration, and she has collaborated as an expert on migration, prejudice and human security with several national governments and with the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and several other agencies of the United Nations, including the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, and the Public Communication Departments of the UN.<\/p>\n

She is currently a Governing Council Member of the European International Studies Association and she has been coordinator of the research project PACIFIC which has considered the main political challenges of environmentally induced migration and the consequences in terms of migration and human security that climate change entails for the individuals, peoples and communities living in the Pacific Islands.<\/p>\n
